Damien stood just inside the French doors and listened as his mate asked whoever the hell she was talking to on her cell phone, how a woman could disappear without a trace. Absorbing the kick to the gut, he fought the urge not to go out there and grab the cell phone from her hand.

Rethinking his strategy, he strolled outside and sat at one of the tables, waiting for her to finish. She flicked a glance at him and lowered her voice even more. She obviously didn’t know he could still hear her. She hurriedly thanked whoever she spoke to and ended the call, promising to call back. Maybe if he and his brothers each spent a little time with her, one on one, they could get her to trust them a little.

His reasons were a little more selfish than that, though. He just wanted to be with her. He sat back, his legs stretched out in front of him and tried to appear relaxed, when he really wanted to carry her to bed and spend the day making love to her.
